I want to compare two files: .docx and .docm, is it possible? What type of file is the output file? Do I need to exchange one of the two for the other type? Is there any documentation about this issue?

GroupDocs.Comparison does not provide such a comparison. It can only compare documents with the same file extensions.
Yes, you have to make sure both documents have same extension. For this purpose, you could use GroupDocs.Conversion.
