I have a digital signature dongle issued to me by a Certifying Agency (CA) in India. The digitally signed documents using the dongle are legally binding in India. I want to use this dongle for signing documents digitally in the GroupDocs viewer using the digital signature functionality. This is also required by my clients in India. Please guide me on how to use the digital signature functionality provided by GroupDocs using the Dongle. For signing the PDF document using the dongle in Acrobat pdf reader I have to provide the password for the dongle. Please provide the solution at the earliest as I have to show case this functionality to the client.
Can you please provide more details about the specific GroupDocs product you are using and the programming language you are working with for the digital signature functionality?
GroupDocs signature, .net
To assist you properly with integrating your digital signature dongle into the GroupDocs Viewer workflow, we need a few more details:
- What is the make/model of your digital signature dongle (e.g., ePass 2003, SafeNet, etc.)?
- Which middleware or software does your dongle use (like SafeNet Authentication Client, ePass software, etc.)?
- Are you able to access your certificate (stored in the dongle) via Windows Certificate Store or through a PKCS#11 interface?
- Will the signing process happen on a server (headless, no UI) or a client machine (with user interaction possible)?
- Since the dongle prompts for a password when used in Acrobat Reader, are you expecting a GUI prompt during signing or are you open to handling the password programmatically?
Hello Atir,
Thank you for the questions. My response as follows:
- Make/model: Watchdata PROXKey
- Middleware: The dongle uses the following middlewares:
PKCS#11: The PROXKey utilizes this standard to enable software to access its cryptographic capabilities.
CAPI (Cryptographic API): The PROXKey supports CAPI for compatibility with various applications and platforms. - Yes I am able to access the Certificate via Windows Certificate Store and also through their desktop application called PROXKey Token Tool
- The signing process will happen on the client machine where the user will use the dongle whenever they want to sign a document.
- A GUI prompt for the password will work best
Please feel free to let me know if you have any further queries. Thank you.
Best Regards.
