We are encountering an issue with the Groupdocs Viewer where the error message “Unlicensed version of GroupDocs.Viewer for .NET allows 15 views per hour” occasionally appears when previewing media files.
The issue appears to only occur after the nightly IIS scheduled application pool recycle and is fixed by a manual restart of the application pool from the IIS Manager.
Wondering why the IIS Scheduled application pool recycle is not working.
Groupdocs Version is 18.1.0.0. Our environment includes three load-balanced servers: Web1, Web2, and Web3. This issue appears to be isolated to Web1, as the same API call works without any problems on Web2 and Web3.
Web1 Server is Windows Server 2022 Standard while Web 2 & Web3 Servers are Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard servers.
We have verified that the GroupDocs.Viewer.lic license file is present and identical on all three servers.
Could you please advise why only Web1 is displaying this licensing error?
@rajsekhar
Can you please provide more details about the configuration of Web1 compared to Web2 and Web3, and any specific error logs that might help diagnose the issue?
Hello, Web1 Server is Windows Server 2022 Standard while Web2 & Web3 Servers are Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard. We didn’t find any error logs related to this.
The issue appears to only occur after the nightly IIS scheduled application pool recycle and is fixed by a manual restart of the application pool from the IIS Manager.

Please let me know if you need more details. Thank you!
Hi @rajsekhar ,
You’ve mentioned that you’re using a GroupDocs.Viewer for .NET version 18.1.0.0. I’m afraid it is too old and we don’t support it now. Can you please update it to the latest version 25.4 and check the issue once more. It is highly likely, that it was already fixed in the latest versions.
Also, because this issue is related to the licensing system, please specify which type of license are you using? Whether it is a license file, specified using License
class by the path or stream, or you’re using a Metered license? Just in case, all work with licenses is described here.
With best regards,
Denis Gvardionov
Hi, @denisgvardionov .
Thanks for the update. We are using the Developer OEM License with unlimited physical locations. But as you mentioned, our present version (18.1.0.0) is too old and we might need to update this to the latest version (25.4) to get this Licensing issue fixed.
Again, Thank you for the support.
Regards,
Raj
