Dear GroupDocs customers,
We are pleased to announce the release of GroupDocs.Conversion for Java v26.9. This release introduces cooperative cancellation for document conversion, expands conversion support between popular compressed-stream formats, and provides a stable Java module name for applications using the Java module system.
Key New Features
Cooperative Conversion Cancellation
Document conversions can now be cancelled using the new CancellationToken and CancellationTokenSource APIs. All public Converter.convert(...) and Converter.convertPageByPage(...) methods now have overloads accepting a CancellationToken, while the existing APIs remain fully available.
Cancellation can be requested from another thread by calling CancellationTokenSource.cancel(). The conversion stops cooperatively between conversion operations and reports cancellation using java.util.concurrent.CancellationException.
Expanded Compression Format Conversion
GroupDocs.Conversion for Java now supports additional conversions between compressed-stream formats:
- Bzip2 → Gzip, LZMA, XZ
- Gzip → Bzip2, LZMA, XZ
- LZMA → Bzip2, Gzip, XZ
- XZ → Bzip2, Gzip, LZMA
- Unix Z → Bzip2, Gzip, LZMA, XZ
Same-format conversion is also supported for Bzip2, Gzip, LZMA, and XZ.
The target compression format can be selected using CompressionConvertOptions.setFormat(...).
Stable Java Module Name
The release JAR now declares:
Automatic-Module-Name: com.groupdocs.conversion
This provides a stable module name for applications using the Java module system.
Major Improvements & Fixes
Package Quality Improvements
Package verification findings identified in the GroupDocs.Conversion 26.7 JAR have been addressed as part of the 26.9 release.
Archive Conversion Availability
Advertised archive conversion pairs are now restricted to conversions within ZIP, 7z, TAR, and CPIO. Applications relying on previously advertised archive-to-compressed-stream conversion pairs should review the available conversions when upgrading.
Backward Compatibility for Cancellation APIs
Existing conversion code does not need to be changed to use v26.9. Existing convert(...) and convertPageByPage(...) overloads remain available and internally use CancellationToken.NONE.
