GroupDocs.Metadata for Python via .NET 26.9 is now available on PyPI.

Highlights

  • Ship a groupdocs-metadata command line with info, show, clean, remove, export, and list-formats commands
  • Add support for reading Apple Archive (AAR), GZIP, BZ2, XZ, and Zstandard archives
  • Update the embedded .NET runtime from 10.0.0 to 10.0.12 (including nine security updates)
  • Fix PowerPoint file opening (DllNotFoundException) on all platforms
  • Restore Python 3.5 – 3.7 compatibility
  • Remove the libgdiplus requirement on Linux and macOS

Breaking changes (see release notes for migration details):

  • 105 format classes moved from sub‑modules (e.g., groupdocs.metadata.formats.audio.ogg) to their parent modules (e.g., groupdocs.metadata.formats.audio)
  • Old modules are removed; import paths must be updated accordingly
  • Wheels now require pip 20.3+ on Linux/macOS due to updated manylinux/macOS tags

Install:

pip install groupdocs-metadata-net==26.9.0
