Dear GroupDocs Customers,

We are pleased to announce the release of GroupDocs.Parser for .NET 26.10 . This update focuses on improving framework compatibility, reducing platform-specific dependencies, and strengthening the reliability of document processing across supported .NET environments.

:rocket: Key Improvements and Fixes

  • Added .NET Framework 4.8 support โ€“ Extended compatibility with applications targeting .NET Framework 4.8.
  • Removed System.Drawing usage โ€“ Reduced reliance on platform-specific graphics APIs to improve cross-platform compatibility.
  • Improved HTML document processing โ€“ Enhanced handling of documents containing external resources, including images and stylesheets.
  • Improved dependency compatibility โ€“ Addressed packaging and dependency compatibility issues across supported .NET targets.

These changes make GroupDocs.Parser more reliable for modern and legacy .NET applications.

:package: Extended .NET Framework Support

GroupDocs.Parser for .NET 26.10 adds support for .NET Framework 4.8 , alongside the existing supported targets:

  • .NET Framework 4.6.2
  • .NET Framework 4.8
  • .NET Standard 2.1
  • .NET 6
  • .NET 8
  • .NET 10

The existing NuGet metapackage approach continues to simplify installation and dependency management across supported frameworks.

Install the library using:

dotnet add package GroupDocs.Parser

:wrench: Reduced Dependency on System.Drawing

This release removes the use of System.Drawing from the Parser implementation, reducing platform-specific graphics dependencies.

This improvement supports more consistent document processing across Windows, Linux, and macOS environments, particularly for applications targeting modern .NET versions.

:page_facing_up: Improved HTML Document Processing

HTML documents may reference external images, stylesheets, and other resources.

Version 26.10 improves the handling of HTML documents containing external resources, including scenarios where resource loading is restricted or skipped.

These changes help make HTML document parsing more robust in environments with limited network access.

:computer: Using GroupDocs.Parser Across Supported Frameworks

The existing parsing API remains straightforward and consistent across supported .NET platforms.

For example, extracting text from a document:

using System;
using System.IO;
using GroupDocs.Parser;

using (Parser parser = new Parser("sample.docx"))
{
    using (TextReader reader = parser.GetText())
    {
        if (reader != null)
        {
            Console.WriteLine(reader.ReadToEnd());
        }
    }
}

The same API can be used across the supported target frameworks.
