Dear GroupDocs customers,
We are pleased to announce the first public release of GroupDocs.Redaction for Node.js via Java v26.10. You can now redact sensitive text, metadata, annotations, and image areas from Node.js applications using the same proven redaction engine as GroupDocs.Redaction for Java — exposed through a thin Node.js bridge.
This package is ideal if you already work in Node.js and need on-premises document redaction without rewriting your pipeline in Java. Install from npm, point JAVA_HOME at a supported JDK, and call the familiar API from JavaScript.
What’s included
- First Node.js via Java package for Redaction —
@groupdocs/groupdocs.redactionon npm - Java-powered engine — the Node.js package loads the Redaction JAR and surfaces the public Java API through the
javabridge - Same capabilities as Java 26.10 — text, metadata, annotation, image, and page redactions; save in the original format or as a rasterized PDF
- GitHub examples — ready-to-run samples for common redaction scenarios
How it works (for developers)
Under the hood, @groupdocs/groupdocs.redaction downloads/loads groupdocs-redaction-nodejs-26.10.jar and maps Java types into Node.js exports (Redactor, ExactPhraseRedaction, License, and so on). You write JavaScript; document processing runs on the JVM. A local JRE/JDK is required (JAVA_HOME configured). No separate “pure JS” engine — this is intentionally a via Java product for parity with the Java API.
Install
npm i @groupdocs/groupdocs.redaction
Minimal example
const redaction = require('@groupdocs/groupdocs.redaction');
// Optional: apply a license to disable evaluation limits
// const license = new redaction.License();
// license.setLicense('GroupDocs.Redaction.lic');
const redactor = new redaction.Redactor('sample.docx');
try {
redactor.apply(new redaction.ExactPhraseRedaction(
'John Doe',
new redaction.ReplacementOptions('[personal]')));
redactor.save();
} finally {
redactor.close();
}
