[Release] GroupDocs.Search for .NET v26.10 – Redesigned index format: smaller, faster, more reliable

Dear GroupDocs Customers,

We are pleased to announce the release of GroupDocs.Search for .NET version 26.10. This is a major release: the index format has been redesigned, so indexes are smaller on disk, use half the RAM, and open 2 to 4 times faster. Searching, deleting, optimizing and image search are also much faster.

Key New Features
○ Change the number of search threads at any time (issue SEARCHNET-3665).
○ Replace unpaired surrogate characters with U+FFFD instead of removing them (issue SEARCHNET-3666).
○ Skip terms that consist only of blended characters (issue SEARCHNET-3667).
○ Update indexes created by versions 22.7–26.8 to the new format without re-indexing (issue SEARCHNET-3668).

Major Improvements and Fixes
○ Index size on disk now grows in proportion to the indexed data (SEARCHNET-3669).
○ Loaded index needs 2 times less RAM (SEARCHNET-3670).
○ Opening an index is 2 to 4 times faster (SEARCHNET-3671).
○ Word search in large indexes is up to 2 times faster, and rare words 10 to 40 times faster (SEARCHNET-3672).
○ Fuzzy search is 2.5 to 5 times faster, and wildcard search 2.5 to 3 times faster (SEARCHNET-3673, SEARCHNET-3674).
○ Deleting documents is hundreds of times faster, with 4 times less memory and no extra disk space (SEARCHNET-3675).
○ Index optimization is 4 times faster and uses 4 times less memory (SEARCHNET-3676).
○ Searches and index-modifying operations no longer block each other (SEARCHNET-3677).
○ Index data are protected with checksums, and all changes are applied atomically (SEARCHNET-3678).
○ Peak RAM during indexing is about 2 times lower (SEARCHNET-3679).
○ Retrieving stored document text is up to 15 times faster (SEARCHNET-3680).
○ Image search data take 2.9 times less memory and are loaded 6.6 times faster. Reverse image search is up to 1.8 times faster (SEARCHNET-3681).
○ Letter case is handled identically on .NET Framework and .NET (SEARCHNET-3682).
○ Search by chunks is 7 to 150 times faster, and date range search is 2 to 27 times faster (SEARCHNET-3688).
○ Fixed the default number of search threads: search now uses all processor cores (SEARCHNET-3683).
○ Term dictionaries can no longer be changed once an index contains documents (SEARCHNET-3684).
○ Indexes that process text differently can no longer be merged (SEARCHNET-3685).

Action Required When Upgrading
○ Indexes created by previous versions must be converted with the IndexUpdater class before they can be opened. Source documents are not required.
○ Search is now multithreaded by default. Set IndexSettings.SearchThreads explicitly to limit the number of threads.
○ ReplaceUnpairedSurrogates and SkipBlendedOnlyTerms are enabled by default. Set them to false before creating an index to keep the previous behavior.
○ Search by chunks may return a different number of chunks. Iterate while SearchResult.NextChunkSearchToken is not null.
