I am writing to report an issue I encountered while using the live demo of GroupDocs Viewer. When opening XLSX files, the data in the rendered output appears to overlap, making it difficult to read and interpret.
Could you please investigate this and let me know if there is a resolution or workaround? If additional information is required, I would be happy to provide it.
Thank you for your assistance. I look forward to your response.
We’re sorry for such inconvenience. Please share a sample XLSX file that you have mentioned so we can reproduce it and check it on our side. Because I see here only the screenshot. You can attach a sample XLSX directly to your forum post or upload it somewhere and share a link - as you wish.
Thank you for logging the issue in your internal bug tracker and sharing the details. I appreciate your prompt action and the update.
Please let me know if you require any additional information or assistance from my side to help with the investigation. I look forward to hearing from you once there is any progress or further updates on this matter.
Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate your commitment to keeping me updated. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s anything further I can assist with in the meantime.
Hi vladimir.litvinchik,
I hope this email finds you well. I am reaching out to provide details regarding an issue I am experiencing when using the GroupDocs Viewer application for viewing XLSX files.
Issue Description- Working Scenario: XLSX files created using Microsoft Excel are opening and displaying correctly in the GroupDocs Viewer.
Problematic Scenario: When attempting to view XLSX files created using Apache POI, the application encounters issues, and the files do not render as expected.
Steps to Reproduce1. Create an XLSX file using Apache POI.
Upload the file to the GroupDocs Viewer application.
Observe that the file either fails to display correctly or throws an error.
Observations- XLSX files generated by Apache POI may have structural or formatting differences compared to those created by Microsoft Excel, which could lead to compatibility issues.
The same file opens correctly in Microsoft Excel and other similar tools but encounters problems in the Viewer.
Request for Assistance
Could you please investigate whether the Viewer has compatibility concerns with Apache POI-generated XLSX files? Additionally, if there are any specific requirements or best practices for generating compatible XLSX files using Apache POI, kindly share them.
I have attached an example XLSX file created with Apache POI for your reference.
I am reaching out to report an issue I am experiencing with GroupDocs Viewer while trying to open PowerPoint (PPT) files. Specifically, I have observed the following problems:
Data Cut-Off: Some portions of the content within the slides appear to be truncated or missing when viewed.
Content Misalignment: In some cases, the data displayed in tables is rendered incorrectly, with content being misaligned or positioned outside the table boundaries.
These issues affect the usability and accuracy of the displayed files, which is critical for my project. I have verified that the original PPT files are correctly formatted and display as intended in PowerPoint.
Could you please provide guidance on how to resolve these issues? If needed, I can share sample PPT files and more detailed steps to reproduce the problem.
I’ve checked the provided file PowerPoint.pptx from the shared link, it has 2 slides with pure text. I’ve checked it on GroupDocs.Viewer App here and I see only the problem with the “Testing” word on the 1st slide. But I don’t any issues, related to the mentioned “missed or truncated Data Cut-Off”, or “data displayed in tables is rendered incorrectly” - actually, I don’t see tables here at all.
Maybe, we’re talking about different files, or something else. Please show on screenshot(s) the reported issues so we can be sure that are talking about the same.
Waiting for your reply.
Edit: regarding merged letters “ti” in the word “Testing” on the 1st slide — we have reproduced it using standalone GroupDocs.Viewer for .NET and defined it as a bug — now it is logged as " VIEWERNET-5145" in our internal bug tracking system, and we plan to fix it.
Thank you for reviewing the PowerPoint.pptx file and providing your observations. I appreciate your input regarding the issue with the word “Testing” on the first slide.
To clarify the reported concerns:
Missed or Truncated Data Cut-Off: The issue pertains to [describe specific observation, e.g., text or content that seems truncated or misaligned in your review].
Incorrect Rendering of Data in Tables: While there are no visible tables in the file, the [describe context, e.g., shapes, groupings, or other elements] might have been mistaken for tables. This may be causing the confusion during rendering.
Additionally, we have identified a related issue with Excel files created using Apache POI. It appears that such files might affect the viewer’s rendering capabilities, potentially leading to display errors. If the Excel files were generated using Apache POI, this could be a contributing factor to the issues observed.
To ensure we are aligned, I have reviewed the file using Microsoft Office Excel 2007 and Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 and captured screenshots highlighting the reported issues. These screenshots are attached below:
Screenshot 1 (XLSXIssue.png): This shows an issue where an uploaded Excel sheet is not rendered correctly in the viewer.
Screenshot 2 (DataCut.png): This shows an issue where uploaded PowerPoint files are not rendered correctly in the viewer, resulting in data being cut off.
Screenshot 3 (DataEffectedInTable.png): This shows an issue where data displayed in tables within the uploaded PowerPoint file is affected, leading to incorrect rendering in the viewer.
Thank you for the provided link, I’ve checked the “PowerPoint.pptx” and screenshots “DataCut.png” and “DataEffectedInTabel.png”, and, to be honest, I’m confused a lot, because I’ve uploaded the provided file “PowerPoint.pptx” to the GroupDocs.Viewer App, and for me the 2nd and 3rd slides have no truncations, like on your screenshots. I’ve uploaded screenshots of what I see to this my post, please look at them (below this text). I’ve checked it on the latest versions of Google Chrome 131.0.6778.110 and Mozilla Firefox 133.0.3.
Please tell me which web-browser do you use and what screen resolution is installed? Can you please try to clear browser cache and hard-reset the main page and then try to upload the “PowerPoint.pptx” one more time?
Thank you for your detailed response and for sharing your findings regarding the PowerPoint slide truncation issue.
Browser and Version: During my initial testing, I was using Mozilla Firefox version 132.0. After updating to version 133.0, the issue with slide truncations has been resolved. The slides now render correctly, aligning with your screenshots.
Screen Resolution: My screen resolution is [your resolution, e.g., 1920x1080]. I also cleared the browser cache and performed a hard reset on the main page before retesting, as you suggested.
XLSX Issue: Regarding the XLSX issue, I had already attached the relevant screenshots and files in my previous email. The issue persists on my end, specifically the issue, e.g., “certain cells are not rendering correctly” or “formatting discrepancies still appear”]. Please review the attachments when convenient, and let me know if you require any additional information or testing from my side.
Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to your feedback.
I am following up on my previous email dated December 13, regarding the PowerPoint slide truncation issue and the XLSX rendering problems.
PowerPoint Issue:
I appreciate your previous suggestions. After updating Mozilla Firefox to version 133.0 and clearing the cache, the slide truncation issue has been resolved successfully.
XLSX Rendering Issue:
The issue with rendering specific cells or formatting discrepancies in XLSX files persists on my end. I had shared the relevant files and screenshots in my earlier email. Could you kindly review them and provide any updates or additional steps I should try?
Additionally, I am keen to integrate GroupDocs Viewer into my workflow. Before proceeding, I would appreciate your guidance on resolving the above issues. Once the issues are addressed, I would like to discuss further steps regarding integration, licensing, or any technical support required.
Please let me know if you require any additional information or testing from my side. I look forward to your response and assistance.
Regarding PPTX - we’re glad that this issue is solved.
Regarding XLSX - initially we tested your file “PurchaseOrder.xlsx” in Google Chrome and all was looking good. But then tried in Mozilla Firefox and reproduced the exact distortion as on your screenshot “XlsxIssue.png”. I’m attaching a screenshot of what I see in Firefox on Windows 10 and this is definitely not correct. We treat this as a bug and already started to work on it, it is logged as “GROUPDOCSAPP-1027” in our bug tracking system. When it will be fixed, we will notify you.
Thank you for your update regarding the XLSX issue and for identifying it as a bug. I appreciate the prompt action taken and the transparency in sharing the progress.
However, I am unable to open the attachment (“screenshot”) provided in your email. It seems the file is either corrupted or not accessible on my end. Could you please resend the attachment or verify if it was uploaded correctly?
Additionally, I kindly request you to resolve the XLSX issue as soon as possible, as it is impacting our work. Your timely support in this matter is greatly appreciated.
